  1. Wouah, la princesse Kako est superbe dans le Bordeaux de ses boucles d'oreilles, sa robe très fluide, sa pochette jusque dans ses chaussures dont le style change de celui auquel elle nous a habitués !

  3. Oh wow, great shoes, and though I am not a fan of the uneven hem, this is a lovely dress.

    1. LOL! I was so excited about the shoes I didn't even notice the hemline.

    2. The dress *is* a bit busy below the waist, isn't it? In addition to the uneven hem, there appears to be a lace overlay(?) on the right-hand side, some wrap-around fabric - with a round hem - in the front going left to right culminating in a tied "belt" at the waist, and some extra extra fabric folds/pleating on the left-hand side. I guess we should just be glad the dress is all one color. :)

    1. Exactly my thoughts. The shoes are a vast improvement to what we saw on her previously. She seems to slowly but surely come out of the shell (of rules and regulations, but also protection) the IHA had created for the members of the Imperial Family for decades now. Good for her.

  6. Wonderful look. Interesting, modern - and still well within the modesty rules the Court sets. I hope this becomes a trend among the younger women!

  7. The clothing controllers of the palace were probably sleeping when she passed with her new dress and shoe style. I have always wondered how she can get away with her choices. Her style is becoming better and better.

    2. At "Anon 12:04," I totally agree with you! I just get the feeling that she is very "modern" and fun-loving in her "off time." To me, she has always seemed very genuine and warm and not ashamed to show a little emotion from time to time.

One thing that really stood out to me when her sister left the palace for the last time to move to New York with her new husband was Kako's "good-bye" to her. Everyone was being very polite and proper in their "good-byes" before she got into the car but, Kako opened her arms wide and gave her sister a very warm embrace and "bear" hug. It made me want to tear up a bit. It was like she was saying, "Yeah, we can face-time, and text, and talk on the phone, etc. but nothing is going to replace us being able to spend time together in person."

  10. You go, Kako!!! Love that she's managing to find ways to wear more modern styles and somehow keep the Court Fashion Police at bay! This color is beautiful for her. Even though I am not a fan of hemline style I'm going to give her an A+ for being carefully fashion-forward while looking so pretty. Her biggest success here is her shoes! Great shoes and so much better than the usual court shoes worn by the Japanese royal ladies.
