Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie wore a green houndstooth jacket and green houndstooth wide-leg trousers

On October 11, 2024, Hereditary Grand Duke Guillaume and Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie explored the exhibition 'Ars Heraldica – The World of Coat of Arms' at the National Library (BnL) in Kirchberg. Coats of arms have been part of Western culture for more than 800 years. Like other symbols, they are an expression of personal, family, and societal identity. The exhibition aims to showcase the use and significance of coats of arms.

  1. No, Stephanie, Nooooo. You were doing so well for the last few events. Two steps forward and one step back.

    1. I agree. It's difficult to imagine an outfit that is more unflattering to Stephanie's morphology than this print pant suit.

    2. I also blame the material. I'm thinking if it was something more silky and not so clingy, and not so fitted, it might be okay regardless of the pattern. A suit that's a little more drapey.

  2. See, I don't understand why there isn't someone to stop her. Someone trusted that can say something like, "Mam, perhaps those pants aren't the best to wear today. Let's try one of these other choices."

    1. Yes, her pants are too short.

    2. The outfit would look better with longer, black pants. The pattern and short length of these pants is not flattering.

    1. Really? I agree Stephanie is very pretty and charming but, the pants are too tight and too short. How is that a "good look?"

    2. @ Anon. 23:41
You are right. If only she would have worn something similar but with a skirt instead of pants. The jacket is also too tight. The only thing I like here is the color of the outfit which is a good match with her blond hair.

  4. A gorgeous colour. However, I would not advise to wear the two pieces together. Too overwhelming. Each piece paired with an entirely different counterpart will look way better.

  5. I do think jewel tones like this deep green suit her.

    1. The deep green is wonderful. Everything else is wrong, wrong. The pants make her look huge.

  6. Nice pant suit Stephanie put on. Nothing a fan of her husband his wrinkled red pants.

    1. Totally agree. The green-black pant suit looks so much better than all her combos with black large trousers over the years. Only the lenght of the trousers could have been a bit longer as the are neither really long nor culottes. And when Stephanie is wearing a suit why does her husband wears an old fashioned combo with burgundy trousers. He could have worn a smart suit too.

  8. The problem is the pants…as another commenter said, they are too tight and too short. BUT, the jacket with the black tank underneath is great on her! If paired with a straight, matching green skirt that hits her right at mid-knee, this outfit would be wonderfully chic and stylish. It could happen… — Jane

  9. Tight pants just are not her friend. It's a shame because this could have been a good look. It's great from the waist up.

  11. Sorry I pressed the incorrect button.
This is a big NO, what are her stylists thinking, they need to be sacked.

This lady has got so much going for her, bring that out first.
    Her beautiful smile
    Her beautiful hair.
Bring in longer line jackets, trousers tailored to her shape.
In colours that complement her colour tone.
    Wake up stylist.
This lady needs to be completed to the beautiful person she is.

    3. I think there are more royal ladies who have no stylist(s), more than we think. What I do know that some queens have a personal assistant. When I hear what that person has to do it is 3 or 4 jobs at the same time. She must be secretary, hair-dresser on a normal weekday, looking after the clothes of the queen like bringing them to the laundry or sometimes do the ironing herself, carrying 2 or 3 bags and running behind the queen when she is abroad on a working visit, ... Some queens have still ladies in waiting, who have also all kind of duties to accomplish ..... and Queens nowadays have also the designers where they buy regularly clothes, shoes, hand-bags, etc... who give their advice.

  12. I feel the jacket is too short as well as the pants very ill fitting.

  13. Oh dear. The jacket and pants are too tight, and the pants are too short. I can't see her shoes as well as I would like, but they seem to have bows on them. They look very dated. With the pattern and texture of the fabric, she should be wearing a very simple, plain shoe.

I agree about her pants and jacket The shoes are not very dated. Since last Summer bows on shoes are fashion again in Europe.

    2. @11:02 Thanks for the information about the shoes. They scream 80's to me. As we know, everything cycles back into fashion.

  14. I like the Hereditary Grand Duchess, and green suits her well, but these pants are a little tight. One size up, and I would have loved everything.

  16. The suit is a terrific color but Stephanie needs to work with a tailor to learn that a well-fitted outfit with feel and look good.

  17. Oh dear! Stephanie should not wear this outfit. The jacket is good for her and is well fitted. The trousers are a disaster--they do not fit at all and are too short. Had she paired this jacket with a pair of black trousers she would have had a great look. Other than the disaster of the trousers she looks wonderful here--great hair and well styled from the waist up.

  18. Lovely jacket, lovely shoes, but the trousers are too tight and too short, which is a pity because the colour and tissue are very good.

  19. The colour suits her ... the cleavage for me is to low for a formal visit ... if the pants was a skirt, it would've worked better ...IMHO

  20. Très joli pied de poule vert qui convient bien à la blondeur de Stéphanie mais au niveau des lignes de son costume, ce n'est pas du tout ça !

  22. Most of the critics suggest, in varying degrees of openness, that she should take steps to dress in a way that makes her look slimmer than she is. Or engage somebody who suggests this to her. Why? This is belittling of an adult intelligent woman who I am sure quite well knows how she looks and what she wants to wear. I for one like this green two-piece, and don't judge a pant on the basis of just one photo which might have caught her mid-step. To call her looking "huge" is clearly a misjudgement based on model sizes.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I agree that saying that she looks "huge" is a misrepresentation. I don't think the suggestion is so much that she should dress to look slimmer, but to choose pieces that don't make her look bigger. We should all wear what flatters the body we have. Not all styles look good on all people. The idea is to emphasize our best features and minimize our worst features. The right clothes can do that. In this case, the pants are too tight and emphasize her hips. A different cut and size could have disguised her trouble area.

    2. Agree! With anonymous 14:58. The green really suits her, she looks pretty, polished and happy. She no doubt understands her role and expectations including dress requirements far better than any of us on the outside. - Grace

    3. @Anon 22:25: I agree to emphasize our best features. But ... I am not sure that a bit of roundness here or there is something that has to be minimized. Just think about the following: (1) Women amputees show their missing body parts on the catwalk. The idea behind this is: not having to hide or minimize suboptimal features of your body. And here we are, talking about a woman with a bit more fat here and there ... (2) Stephanie used to wear wide black pants that absolutely hided everything. I am sure you remember all the fashion experts on this blog crying out loud and asking her to hire a stylist. Now she wears "normal" trousers and look and behold, her body is not good enough for that. This is somehow ... not a very good way to think and judge about ourselves and our bodies.

      Delete
    4. @Anon 10:46 I don't think it is possible or necessary to minimize extra weight. Our sizes are what they are. We can make ourselves look bigger with the wrong clothes, however. The problem is that the pants are so tight that they emphasize the lumpy appearance of her hips, as is clearly seen in the 4th picture. Had her pants been a little larger or a better cut for her, they would have glided over that area of her hips and not drawn attention to that area of her body. It is the same as wearing a top that is too tight and rolls in the stomach are obvious, as opposed to wearing a style that is looser that skims over the stomach and makes it look smoother. I do remember when Stephanie was in her black pants phase. While black pants may have been tiresome, these are no better in my opinion, due to the fit. I don't think it has anything to do with her body not being good enough, it's just the sizing of her clothes that people are reacting to.

  23. Her mother-in-law, Maria Teresa, should really pull her aside and offer, very diplomatically, a fashion day, where they can spend time together and talk about the role and what it requires as far as how one presents herself. It could even be fun, but someone, if they really care about Stephanie, will try to help her. Or, perhaps, despite the kind demeanor and pleasant smile, behind closed doors she is strong-willed and thinks she looks just fine. If that's the case, I feel badly for her, because some of latitude she's been given by the press as the heir's wife will quickly fade away and she'll begin receiving criticism from the media sooner than later.

  24. She is just using up what is in her closet. She is not out to be a fashion icon. She comes from an aristocratic family and doesn't need to impress anyone while doing her job. Her interest and knowledge are her attributes along with happily being just a mom.
