At least her shoes are better than the ones on the model. :-/ I don't even know how you'd keep those clean! Yuck!

It is an ankle strap, not a 'safety strap'. It is very common for this style of espadrilles. The other common option is ankle ties.

my first thought was: this is the (re-enacted) photo of his parents (they were stationed in Malta for the first years of their marriage - see here: https://www.standard.co.uk/lifestyle/queen-love-malta-prince-philip-travel-b1024569.html )

This is a lovely outfit. The neckline of the blouse is particularly nice.

    1. I agree! Very elegant combination, much above the model where the pattern is overwhelming (and the shoes very strange...!)

  4. This is a lovely, pretty ensemble. I love the color of her bag, picking up the same color of her skirt, clever addition. Her hair looks fabulous, love it up style. The subtle pieces of jewellery are a nice choice.

The amount of fabric gathered into the skirt's waistband does her figure no favours. Her bag handle is quirky!

What a pretty skirt and the blouse and shoes are great choices.

Quietly and graciously carrying out duties, continuing on with everything the Queen has built all her life. Pure respect and love for the Queen of her country and her mother in law, that is.

Fashion wise, although she may not be the most "fashionable" kind with the latest style and all - her calm peaceful and dutiful mind adds that extra sparkle to her overall exterior.

Th skirt could have worked with a plane top, with this shirt a big no.

  9. Très bel imprimé de la jupe que je vois bien portée avec ce chemisier dont j'aime beaucoup l'encolure ; bon choix que ces chaussures à bride !

Sorry but I do not like anything she is wearing here. The white shirt tucked in the skirt make her look wider than she is. The skirt has not the right cut for Duchess Sophie's morphology. The straps of the white espadrilles are cutting her legs in 2. Best not wearing espadrilles but a comfortable white shoe with a little block heel. Her handbag is looking like one of those cheap nylon bags, which probably isn't. She kept her classic jewelry very simple.

As expected, lovely hair, make-up and jewelry. The blouse is nice, but the skirt, handbag and shoes are just not flattering. The print of the skirt is nice, however, but not with this blouse. Fun and wise to do a bit of royal theater and stage photos that remind of the Queen and Prince Philip when they were there in Malta. In fact, I think that's what Sophie was going for with the skirt - a retro look - that unfortunately does her no favors.

  12. Sophie looks very nice here. I like the skirt for the bright, vibrant colors. I like the blouse but I wish she had chosen a color instead of white--perhaps pick a color in the skirt. The white blouse just sort of blahs out the look for me--it adds bulk. Since she is wearing a belled skirt shape her top needed to be more fitted to look better on her. I have such mixed feelings about her shoes--I always have. For some reason her espadrilles are just too chunky looking--I think it's the wide white toe cap. Two things I am so glad she avoided--the top and the shoes on the model as both are terrible.

  13. Light breezy colors are spectacular for this area of the world. Both Edward and Sophie look smashing.
