    2. Queen Mary was a Royal many years before Catherine ever stepped in a palace so to say Mary is copying her should be the other way around. she is styling herself differently now that she is Queen and wearing headbands (not diadems), hats, fascinators like so many other royals do. I think that Catherine may adopted her look so are you going to say the next time Catherine is dressed similar to Mary that she has too much Mary vibe going on. Probably not!

    3. @FITZHUGH It does not matter that Mary is much older, since she is putting on these headbands years after Catherine started wearing them. have you noticed that this year Mary is wearing exactly the same items as Catherine? few days ago Jane Taylor headband the exact same model as Catherine, but in different colour. Same model alexander mcqueen suit, but in a different colour. It goes on and on. Even the brands, so many British brands, almost no Danish/Australian brands.

  4. Looks like Catherine! I wish Mary did not wear diadems, they do not suit her.

    1. I find Mary’s outfit particularly flattering, and the headband-hat absolutely beautiful in framing and enhancing her face. The colours are gentle and feminine on her. But I don’t envy the ladies walking in such high heels on cobblestones … pic 4 looks like the president’s wife’s shoe is about to twist under her?… Grace

    2. I disagree, I would rather see a diadem than a hat. Perhaps if stopping the comparisons to Catherine, she is not the royal standard for Europe, then we can appreciate that the headband is a more modern look. It suits everyone and you can see their face clearly. Dark colours do look nice on QM but this blue is lovely too.

  5. The outfits are not bad. Not keen on the head thing though, but the colours are all wrong for Mary. She kinda dissapear in this pale colour.

  6. The outfit is elegant and original but I don't think that baby blue is the best color for the Queen Mary. Aziliz

  7. Une jolie couleur pour le manteau. J'aime aussi l'encolure très simple.
Beau chemisier.
Paloma.

  8. The two ladies look lovely. I'm much looking forward to the celebrations this afternoon in the capital of my home country, when we will also see CPs Victoria and Mette-Marit, alongside their respective husbands. Plus the presidents of the Republics Iceland and Finland, of course. It is such a great idea to have a large joint embassy for all the Nordic Countries, and it should serve as an example for other countries (like Latin American ones, for example) to consolidate, get more effective, and perhaps save money as well.

  9. Belle association des couleurs bleu pâle et camel chez Mary - Cela faisait un moment que je n'avais point vu ses boucles d'oreilles ; j'aime beaucoup l'ensemble ivoire de madame Büdenbender !

  11. Mary looks lovely and Ms Büdenbender elegant. I think we will see wonderful photos of the Joint Nordic Celebration!

  12. Queen Mary's skirt is too long. It is not very elegant when it is longer than the coat. The colors are good. The headband would be lovelier without that piece of fabric hanging out on the left side of her neck. Elke Büdenbender is looking very good all in Winterwhite. She has a nice haircut for the moment.

  13. Si, è vero. Mary sparisce con questi colori che sono comunque belli.
E dico no al fascinator che penzola.

  14. We already saw that Frau Büdenbender is a woman of taste: today again she looks quite good in white with black shoes.
Queen Mary tried too hard, but alas, the neckline of the coat is not good in combination with a V- neck blouse. The blouse itself is beautifull, but the skirt just too long. The head- thing? Mwah

  15. I love the headband very much, it is so decorative with Mary's dark hair. Also, I would like to suggest that dear Catherine does not have a monopol for headbands, sure she also would not want to. The whole ensemble is very well coordinated and extremely elegant, the headband is the dot on the "i".

    1. Queen Mathilde and CP Elisabeth are wearing headbands sometimes. Nobody has a monopol. Fabienne Delvigne made already headbands before anybody else did.

  16. The pale colors tend to wash Mary out a little but overall she looks very nice. And I love her coat.

  17. QM looks great in this pale blue colour combination -beautiful. The only thing I'd like to change is how long are the skirt and coat - they should be the same IMO. Zofia

    1. I agree with you. I really like the whole outfit but the skirt hanging down below the coat detracts from the polished appearance and looks sloppy. Kudos to both ladies in their heels on the cobbles. Wonder why they are not walking on the red carpet

  18. A similar headband - as o Queen Mary's in her hair - is what I wear when I clean my house: when I mop the floor to keep my hair out of my face.
The colors of both ladies are nice, but Mary needs to shorten her skirt, the President's wife needs to shorten her sleeves, and Mr. President needs to shorten his pants.

  20. For me Mary's casual clothes are great. Her evening wear is terrific but her smart day time clothes somehow often just do not appeal. I rarely like the hats so this new trend of hair bands just fits the bill for me personally. I love this blue coat, shirt and skirt and the total look is lovely colour and style wise.

  22. I love this whole outfit! Queen Mary looks very beautiful in her elegant outfit--the skirt and blouse are a repeat from her trip to Norway or Sweden this summer. Given that it is now much cooler, it's great that she paired this look with a coat she's worn for years. I think the headband--by the way, I started wearing headbands when I was about 3 years old and I'm 64 now (in other words they have been in and our of fashion for years so no one has a monopoly on this style of headpiece)--is a perfect choice here. Yes, Mary looks great in hats but the headband allows her wear her hair down and control her hair at the same time--I love the scarf-like details on this headband too. And, it's a restyling of a recently worn outfit because the first time she wore a fascinator. I also like that she changed up the earrings this time too--the Notkin earrings pick up the gold tones in the skirt. Ms. Budenbender also looks terrific in her stylish coat dress. Can't wait to see the CP Victoria and CP Mette-Marit--I've seen them on other sites and they look fabulous!

  23. I do love the headband on Mary. I think royal women should wear them more often, especially on windy days. I always thought it was awkward seeing one arm arm raised trying to keep the hat from blowing away while hanging onto their purse with the other.
