On October 4, Queen Maxima presented the Orange Fund's "Appeltjes van Oranje 2023" (Apples of the Orange) awards at Noordeinde Palace in The Hague. King Willem-Alexander and Princess Beatrix were also present at the award ceremony.
Every year, Apples of the Orange are awarded to three social initiatives in the Netherlands that are unique, creative and meaningful and have been running for at least one year.
In the 21st edition of the Appeltjes van Oranje, successful neighborhood initiatives that bridge differences between local residents and really connect them were rewarded. The award consists of a bronze statuette designed and made by Princess Beatrix and a cash sum of € 25,000. In principle, every year, Queen Maxima hands out the awards at Noordeinde Palace, while every five years, the awards are handed out by King Willem-Alexander.
I love this dress - except for the part where it is pulled up at the waist to one side, causing the hem to be shorter on one side than the other. It would have been so much better if it didn't ride up, still had the gathers for some detail, but kept the hem length even, instead of riding up one side like that.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Maxima looks lovely and her hair and accessories are good today (perhaps a smaller clutch would have been better, also in small gold sparkles?)

Yes I fully agree.
DeleteI agree completely! Damsel Dragonfly
DeleteQueen Maxima looking good. The dress is reasonable but I wish it was a brighter colour and a straight hemline would also have improved it. Hair looks good too.
ReplyDeleteEverybody is dressed so casually in daytime clothes while Maxima is glittering in evening dress!
DeleteA brighter color for Maxima? The dress is already shimmering. The rest of the crowd is in office wear.

Okay, Jill. I’ll agree to take shimmer over colour 😂

Maxima looks fantastic. What a nice festive evening dress. It flows around her. Great. The King looks handsome as well. Frieda
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with you anon 23; 10
ReplyDeleteThe Queen looks lovely in this colour and the dress is very understated and elegant on her. Princess Beatrix always looks stylish.
ReplyDeleteQM looks wonderful here! Two little things would improve this dress for me: straight hemline and either a brighter or deeper color. Princess Beatrix looks marvelous--love her pants outfit.

Both women look great! The gold sequins knee length dress is always a good idea on Max and I like this execution with the side gathering. Beatrix looks wonderful with a lovely cut that makes her legs look longer than usual. Kudos all around!
ReplyDeleteShe looks very attractive in this dress, but the hip thingy, I don't like.
ReplyDeleteMaxima sieht phantastisch aus. Vor allem ihre Haarfrisur. Klassisch. Geht immer. So natürlich, nichts künstlich aufgehübscht. Klasse Ausstrahlung. Sehr angenehm und autentisch. Überzeugend.
ReplyDeleteLooking good Maxime 👏
ReplyDeleteThe section of the garment that is pulled up at the waist, ruins the entire outfit. At least she has the messy hair look put under control for the evening. Edwina
ReplyDeleteQ.M. looks so pretty in this glittering gold dress and her hair looks nice too!!
ReplyDeleteSo sad, every comment writes only about the women's outfits.
ReplyDeleteDo none of you really wonder how the king is doing?
Both the king and the queen seem so happy and relaxed amongst the participants. There’s nothing rigid and no one is posturing (as often happens with other royals). Likewise with the former queen. Lovely family all around.
