On April 24, 2023, Queen Sonja and Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway attended the unveiling of Louise Bourgeois's monumental spider-like "Maman" in the Palace Park in Oslo. Louise Bourgeois (1911–2010) is regarded as one of the most influential artists of the 1900s. The sculpture Maman, now installed in the Palace Park, is owned by the artist’s own foundation, and is made of steel, bronze and marble.

So lovely
ReplyDeleteBoth ladies look great considering that the rainy weather has dictated their clothing choices. (V.M.)
ReplyDeleteAgree !!
DeleteWell done Ladies!
ReplyDelete“ there is no such thing as bad weather…”!
Mabel
Lovely to see CP MM, and the Queen, though the day was cold/rainy, they looked spot on for the occasion.
ReplyDeleteBoth are lovely with kind and warm personalities! The Norwegians are lucky to have such monarchs 👍
DeleteQ. Sonja looks good in her red cape. This huge sculpture is awful imv.. The artist seems to have had quite some problems with her mother!
ReplyDeletePauline
You can and should read about Louise Bourgeois (ode a maman). e.
DeleteAgree, ignorant comment. Louise Bourgeois is one of the most important artists. Improve your education
DeleteOh, I love the raincoats on the Royal ladies! Any idea what kind of label it is? The Crown Princess is a natural Scandinavian beauty, simply glowing in the rain.
ReplyDeleteAE rainwear, very practical!
DeleteAnna e.
QS is wearing Æ Rainwear Berlin Poncho and MM Fleischer Couture Libra Rain Poncho according to Ufo no more.
DeleteMême si le temps est pluvieux, les photos sont éclairées par la présence de la reine et la princesse !
ReplyDeleteIt is good to see CP M-M feeling better. Both she and Queen Sonja look great in their rain wear. And, let's not forget the sculpture. It's magnificent!
ReplyDeleteI think, the sculpture is frightening. Would you portray your mother like that? Mette Marit's cape (jacket) is too short.
DeletePauline
Pauline, you are very narrow minded. How hard would it be to read up on the sculpture before publicly declaring your uninformed judgement about the piece? Lastly, you say Mette-Marit's rain poncho is too short. I would submit that Sonja's is too big for her. I am only saying this to be argumentative. I can't see the point of bringing up the size/fit at all. They are just trying to stay dry.
DeleteThe sculpture is awful. I don´t care about the symbolism behind it. Totally insane to put something that ugly and frightening (to some) in any public space, let alone the palace garden.
DeletePauline sometimes we should think, maybe do a little research. MM cape is at the same lenght as the model on Fleischer Couture homepage.
DeleteThe red cape looks fabulous, I would wear this myself. CP MM looks great.
ReplyDeleteNot a lot of fashion here except Queen Sonja's gorgeous red cape. Good to see M-M has recovered from her recent bout of illness--she's looking lovely.
ReplyDeleteJanet
The royal ladies look so beautiful even n spite of the weather.
ReplyDeleteI love the huge spider statue. I have an affinity to spiders.
Both RL look lovely . Great colors for the Raincoats. css
ReplyDeleteNice rain gear. Love their smiles and they could almost be “singing in the rain”.
ReplyDeleteIn July of this year Queen Sonja will celebrate her 86th birthday.
