Princess Estelle looks very mature for her age. The glasses aren't helping.

The glasses are to big for her face.

It's rather important to be able to see.

In French they say (I cannot translate it in English) "l'un n'empêche pas l'autre".

Princess Sofia left the Polar Music Prize due to the boys illness, but had time for birthday party

It is probably not necessary for the entire Swedish royal family to participate in all entertainment events? 🤔. Princess Sofia takes care of her patronage and official protocol duties. Svenskdam.se
is a gossip and rumor magazine, which you also sent a link to about Charlene and Albert. M@-Lou

This event seems to be from March, which predates the Polar Music Prize by a couple of months.

I didn't send any link. I'm here for the first time. Sofia did not have such blond hair in March.

Do we really need this false information? How about reading some books instead of that ridiculous gossip magazine...

Not much fashion to write about here. It is traditional clothing and quite cute, if it hadn’t been for that white horrendous head piece. Must be hard for them to wear that in public…

The family look great; I like the national costume. Estelle's glasses are too big for her face; I suppose she chose them, they are a bit like Daniels.(Tara)

Oh, there is no national costume in Sweden, the one the ladies are wearing is a fantasy costume invented when the Queen came to Sweden.

I agree that it is not a national costume but a specially designed one, but I disagree about the time it was designed.
King Gustav III did design a special court dress, but it is not this dress. Gustav III's court dress is typical late 18th century dress/suit black cloth with bright red piping and there is a dress for ladies and a suit for gentlemen.
The dress the present-day royals wear was designed early 20th century (about the time of Jugendstil/ Art Nouveau), but it was not used by the royals until the 1970's when Silvia became queen.
In the 1970's there was quite strong anti-monarchist movement in Sweden and starting to use "the national costume" was one custom the new royal couple started to get the opinion more favourable. There were many other small changes during the years and they did succeed in getting monarchy popular.

  8. I love the colours of their national costume. Bright and gay for spring and their national day.
History says that the costume (female) was designed by King Gustav III and introduced in 1778.
Full details of both the female and male costumes can be found on .......

I don’t think the costume in the pictures is the one from way back in the 1700’s. The one the family’s wearing today is a fantasy costume invented in the 1970’s.

I think everyone looks wonderful here--especially the ladies in their lovely costumes. One comment I keep reading about Estelle's glasses is they are too big for her. I am teacher of 13-14 yr old students but in a school with children as young as 10-11. These are very fashionable glasses right now and I see them in multiple colors too--there are even clear plastic frames just like these that are popular. I think she looks wonderful in her frames of choice!

It is the same like clothes. It is not because something is very fashionable that it looks good on you or me. Besides the very big glasses are going slowly out of fashion right now. Only for sun glasses they advise a bigger shape because it is protecting the eyes better against the sun. I have myself a new pair of glasses since april. I tried bigger glasses than I had, but they pushed on my cheek on both sides of the face. In the end I have chosen the same shape like the big glasses but in a smaller version. Since I have two very different glasses (the right glass is much thicker than the left glass), I cannot always choose the shape that I like. I also have UVA blue protection, Varilux (bifocal glasses), a special treatment for people who are working regularly at PC screens. These glasses are very expensive so the shape comes on the second place and must only be comfortable not fashionable. If you have a little face the optometrist advise a shape of glasses that is not too big. If you have a big face, you can wear bigger glasses. If you must wear your glasses all day long, not just for reading, believe me after a while you are going to take into account all these details (and there are many more) before purchasing a new pair.
