On May 15, 2022, The Countess of Wessex and her daughter Lady Louise Mountbatten-Windsor took part in the Champagne Laurent-Perrier Meet of The British Driving Society at The Royal Windsor Horse Show at Home Park in Windsor, England. The Countess of Wessex wore a navy velvet coat by Laurie & Jules. The Royal Windsor Horse Show is taking place between May 12 and May 15, 2022.

Mother and daughter look fabulous. Sophie's velvet jacket and coat look luxurious and her earrings compliment the buttons of her jacket and the flower pinned to her shoulder. Louise looks every bit the horsewoman. Her hat with the hatband and feathers is very classy, and her jacket with the carriage related brooches is perfect. And the pleasure displayed by their radiant smiles would please the late Prince Philip. Well done, Ladies.

LADY LOUISE
Very true. Both Countess Sophie and Lady Louise look very smart in their outfits for carriage driving. Sophie and Edward must be proud of Louise for taking an interest in carriage driving when her Grandpa was alive, as it is an extension of a family memory + tribute to the Duke of Edinburgh that will continue for years. No wonder the Queen was beaming a beautiful smile when she watched Louise at the WRHS
DeleteLady Louise turns into a beautiful swan
ReplyDeleteSo true, she is becoming a very beautiful young lady.
DeleteBoth look great. Is the Countess having a go at carriage driving herself or was it just for the procession?
ReplyDeleteSophie has driven Carriages for quite some time now. She was frequently seen with her father-in-law, the late Duke of Edinburgh, in his carriage with him driving + with Sophie taking the reigns at times. Apparently Philip thought it would benefit Louise with her skill in driving if her mother or father, Edward, were also competent in driving. Sophie loved the challenge to learn + it enable her more time together with her daughter especially as Louise was at that stage approaching 17. Knowing many teenagers often spend less time with parents, it was a gentle way of sharing time over a common interest. I think the Wessexes are a terrific family. I'd love to see Louise accept her HRH Status, Princess + do some Royal events as I think she would be a great asset to the Monarchy moving forward.
DeleteBoth royal ladies look outstanding in their outfits. I particularly love Sophie's Jacket, midnight blue? Her hat is divine, this style suits her beautifully. Lady Louise looks beautiful, she reminds me so much of the Queen. Well done to them both.
ReplyDeleteWow! They both look so good and classy!
ReplyDeletewow! countess of wessex looks very regal! both mother and daughter loo beautiful
ReplyDeletew.
There was a photo of Louise smiling so brightly wish they would have shown it here.
ReplyDeleteI love the super chic vibe Countess Sophie is giving, she looks like the ultimate aristocratic to me.....I totally agree with all of the wonderful comments about Lady Louise. I do wish she would brush her hair better so it does not look so frizzy, most of her photos show her curly hair that way, just a good brushing, would help!
ReplyDeleteHi FITZHUGH... do you have curly hair? I do. Brushing does not help. Brushing destroys the nice curls & turns the hair into a right pouffy mess. And maybe it's humid in merrie olde England & Louise's hair is responding like curly hair does. Curly hair can be brutal. I think Louise looks fine, hair & all! Thanks! JMO *Regina
DeleteLouise's hair may have certainly been brushed. Curly hair is just curly, not messy. But this website should not be about rude, negative critique of young ladies!
DeleteMeghan
Often with thick curly hair like Louise's, it doesn't matter how you brush it or if you add anti-frizz products, it will still be frizzy. My friend has the same coloured hair as Louise + the same texture of curls. Her sisters hair is the same except her sisters hair colour is black. Her sisters hair rarely has a frizz to it despite them using the same hair products + same type of brush. Their hairdresser said the pigment colour of hair actually can be the defining factor-blonde + auburn-red hair will have frizz moreso than brown, brunette, black. So perhaps this applies to Louise's hair. Honestly I can't imagine that she wouldn't groom herself given her profile position in life is more public than her girlfriends lives are. Sophie has very thick hair that is always immaculate. Edwards hair has a whispiness to it so maybe Louise inherited a combo of both hair follicle genes. Most times that we do see Louise it's outside rather than inside, so it might be a simple case of the elements of the weather affecting her hair? At the end of the day, it's insignificant compared to the type of character she is growing up to be. This far she is respectful, polite, loyal, mature, gentle, loving. She has a strong family bond with GanGan Queen, her AuntAnne, her parents + brother James, most of her older cousins + apparently is wonderful with all of her 2nd.cousins- Savannah Isla Mia Lena Lucas George Charlotte Louis. She is extra close to Charlotte + Isla + Mia + Louis, as they share a common Artistic interest. Given she isn't known for drunkenness (yet) or sneaking into nightclubs, that's a better focus to me than a few days of frizziness. Just a thought
DeleteJust brushing your hair won't help against frizzy or natural curling hair. Special treatment at the hairdresser with special shampoo and drying your hair with a styling brush will help but then you have to do it each time you wash your hair otherwise the curls are coming back.
DeleteI agree with Anonymous who replied HI FITZHUGH ….about curly hair and humidity and brushing etc. @JMO*Regino well said
DeletePollyanna, you must wear several hats, a hairdresser, Historian and a phycologist
DeletePollyanna, My eyes are crossed reading your stuff, TMI!
DeleteSophie's coat is stunning love the style. Mary

ReplyDeleteI like Edward + Sophie a lot too. They’re a great couple. They’re both delightful in lots of ways. Edwards pretty fun + seems to have a knack for relaxing people in certain situations whilst other times, seeming to look a bit lost but he never shows disrespect, difference or arrogance to the people he is with. Sophie is always delightful, compassionate, sincere, genuine. It’s lovely to watch the interaction + relationship that she has with the Queen, how she was with Philip, how she is with the rest of the extended family. They’ve done a great job so far raising Louise + James. Louise has blossomed into a beautiful young adult with great poise + posture, a sense of confidence growing gently as she comes into her own. It’s wonderful that she inherited her grandpas love for carriage driving + the Windsor love of horses. James seems to be a gentle shy soul at the moment. I’m glad we are seeing more of this lovely family

ReplyDeleteI think the Queen, Edward + Sophie must be exceptionally proud of how Louise has accomplished such skill with carriage driving that she is confident + competent enough to be the lead driver at the annual WRHS. Such a sweet tribute to the House of Windsor, to the late Duke of Edinburgh + to all members of the Royal family who have a passion + love of horses-whether it's Olympic Equestrian events like P.Anne + Zara, or Polo-Charles, William, Harry, Show Jumping-Eugenie, or riding for leisure- Edward, Andrew, Beatrice, George, Louise, Charlotte, Savannah, Isla, Mia, Lena, James + of course the Queen + Philip. It must be wonderful to be a part of an extended family that has a shared past time whether it's horses, gardening, tennis, baseball, car racing, vintage car shows etc.. it helps a family bond on the occasions when they can all gather together. We all appreciate our family members having busy schedules over a year so getting together a few times a year + being able to celebrate with a family event such as a horse ride or game of backyard cricket before enjoying a BBQ is important regardless of if you live on a Royal Estate, Private Estate or Public Housing Estate. Keep it up Lady Louise (+ Sophie) you both are wonderful role models + assets to the Commonwealth
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are advertising the british royal family as much as you can.... Its just fashion here, nothing less but nothing more too.. π
DeletePollyAnna, I agree with you and very well said!
DeleteRene
My sentiments exactly, are you copying content from a magazine article, other sources or possibly you are a dear, dear friend of the Royal family, you dropped at least 20 names in this one comment, you forgot to mention a few names though, you will have to do better next time Pollyanna!
DeleteAnon.16/5/22- 21:22
DeleteYes, you nailed it.
There is an excellent copy and paste work and- I am sure- a personal knowledge of the British Royal Family.
Polly+ Anna also forgot to mention that Lady Louise has a passion for drawing so that Her Majesty once decided to show her Queen Victoria' s own skatches, which is undoubtedly a privilege.
To Polly+ Anna + Eliza+ Jane +whoever wants to join in this novel:
I am looking forward to the next episode of the BRF saga and please, write as much as you can, because no abridged versions will be accepted on this blog.
Thank you++++
Snark off Anonymous x 2.

@P. the original and @Anon.16.5.22 -21:22
DeleteNo I haven’t done copy paste from articles, nor am I a hairdresser. My reference to the issue of hair was clearly stated in reference to my friend + her sisters curly hair situation. As for leaving out info on Louise about her passion for drawing + sketching + having the privilege of being allowed access to browse the chronicles of Queen Victoria’s personal sketches … I didn’t forget, it simply wasn’t relevant to the post. The article was not about fashion, it was more to do with Louise’s carriage driving at the WRHS + how her mother Sophie had also participated but at a different time. I’m more than aware of Louise’s artistic passion, something that her grandfather Philip would often sit with her, encouraging her eye to detail. Out of the younger generations, Louise + Charlotte both enjoy drawing a lot. Louise has been known to sit with Charlotte, Mia + Savannah at Christmas time at Sandringham + encourages them + helps them develop their techniques. Regarding what “hats” I wear - I have several Uni degrees = you’re correct with one- Psychologist, but I’m also a qualified Teacher (Primary years), Journalist, Peer Support Worker for Women who were Abused as Children. Quite an active career journey over my many years. I’m enjoying my Retirement nowadays + yes, I do take an interest in the Royal family, amongst many other topics. Thank you. PollyAnna is my Christian name, ElizaJane is my middle name. Depending on whether I’m using my computer or my iPad, either name pops up. I am not Polly + Anna + Eliza + Jane. Just two names, like most people, not four individual names. My surname however is hyphenated. That’s a whole other story that will bore you to tears I’m sure … lol… (probably like any of my responses here have done, which is fine by me. Enjoy your week)
Polly+ Anna
DeleteI am impressed by your CV and I respect your work for abused women.
Ok, if you want to carry on writing a bioepic about the BRF, it Is ok with me.
Mom takes a bit of the attention from Louise, that is a pity.
ReplyDeleteBoth look really lovely.
Mabel
Why is it a pity? They both have rightful individual reasons to assert their presence, and they seem to be doing it beautifully together as mother and daughter.

Quelles merveilles toutes les deux, chacune dans son style ; Louise est devenue un magnifique papillon !
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely and accomplished young lady Louise has become. She looks very good in this shade of green and her hat is wonderful. I think her curly hair is quite pretty and natural. She shouldn't change a thing!
ReplyDeleteRenee
Louise is growing up to be an elegant, poised and accomplished young woman. Kudos to both of her parents.
ReplyDeleteI like the outfits of both ladies, particularly Louise’s hat with the extravagant feather. (V.M.)
Polly+ Anna+ Eliza + Jane
ReplyDeleteOh, how amazing , at last I have bumped into some people who know how to treat curly hair professionally.
Thank you, Polly++++ Anna.
Real hairdressers use a lot of products and treatments on blonde and darker hair...well.. they are quite pricey, you see.
Anyway, also thank you for writing down a novel (are there any other instalments coming soon?) about the Wessex family in the most interesting, fascinating and vivid way ever.
+++++(Well done).

And ...I bet that the " novelists" are not in the least British and not interested that much in the life and history of the BRF.
DeleteAnd you have the gall to complain about people publishing nasty comments anonymously? Adding a nick doesn't make it better...
DeleteThank you P.the original, Margaret Mitchell's epic novel "Gone with the wind" was shorter than Pollyanna's and a classic!

DeleteYou are welcome.
As I had foreseen, the second episode has been issued and I expect many more to come any time soon.
The Countess and Lady Louise both look wonderful! How elegant the riding costumes are for carriage driving. What great activity for mother and daughter to share. I would love to see video of their performance.
