Princess Anne officially opened the new NHS (National Health Service) Blood and Transplant Centre (NHSBT) in Barnsley. Thereafter, Princess Anne toured Southport-based Hartley Hospital, which offers inpatient mental health care and related community services all in one spot, to local residents. The Princess also visited the North East Ambulance Service in Hebburn and there, she presented Long Service and Good Conduct Medals to 14 frontline ambulance personnel.
Her dress is a bit old fashioned, but lovely on her.
ReplyDeleteIt’s a pity she changed into the beige combination with does her less good.
( But: how is she able to keep such a nice silhouette with two brothers overweight?)
Josh
What does her brothers' weight have to do with her? She has a separate home and life not to mention a completely separate body.
DeleteAlso can't think of any of her brothers who are enormously overweight...
G
Turquoise dress is not old fashioned, I can imagine Kate wearing it. Her fitness has nothing to do with her brothers, every single person is responsible for his own choices.
DeleteDP
Do you think that her brother’s excess fat may transfer to her???

I agree that body types run in families and Princess Anne has done a fantastic job maintaining her slim and upright figure, unlike Charles who is probably a foodie given his farming hobby and Andrew who has no excuse for his middle-age spread. Also agree that Anne is not a fashion-plate, but I believe that's because her ego isn't so self-involved that every event is all about what to wear and how she looks. She found a "style" that she is comfortable in and feels suits her - if that's good enough for her, it's good enough for me. In fact, I applaud her for regularly recycling outfits. S.M.
DeleteI don't think Charles is overweight.
ReplyDeleteI like the blue dress very much - the colour and style suit her. The neutral outfit makes her look a bit washed out. Not keen on the gloves - I know it's an etiquette (and possibly Covid now) thing but they jar a bit.
ReplyDeleteBee
Gloves were the style into the early 1970s at best. As far as etiquette is concerned, it would probably depend on your station in life. If it was a COVID thing, she would be masked. She has always worn gloves. In this case, they don't compliment either of these outfits. For Anne, I think it is a throw-back to how she grew up. The Queen Mother, Margaret, and of course the Queen wore gloves because that is what was done years ago. While gloves are part of the Queen's iconic style, they look out of place on Anne. If she is worried about germs from shaking hands, she can wash her hands and use hand sanitizer. The other royals manage. I really think it reads as classist in 2021, when wearing day dresses...in a lab...in a fire station...~d
DeleteI agree with Josh and Tulipe. I am willing to forgive her everything about her clothing style, provided she would revisit her hairstyle.
ReplyDeleteI like her personality and sense of duty. She has a great figure and although she always dresses to the occasion, she dresses really old fashioned and has an old fashioned hairstyle. She could look heaps better with some minor changes.
ReplyDeleteOld school Anne out in full force. But I'd much rather this than her try to be something she is not. I do prefer the brighter dress, the neutral outfit just blends into her complexion too much.
ReplyDeleteChel
Princess Royal is looking lovely as always.

She has a great figure and always dresses to the occasion, but she has just such an old-fashioned (hair)style. With a few changes she could look so much better. I think she doesn’t really care and that’s a pity.

ReplyDeleteI will just opine about her fashion choices, because that is what this blog is about, so please don’t start with her “ sense of duty” “ good causes” etc,.
ReplyDeletePrincess Anne is about one of the worst dressers of all the Royals, her outfits are an eyesore, and the insistence on wearing gloves regardless of the outfit or climate is just terrible. Her hair is a disaster, and yes, you can wear an updo without looking like a birds nest.
Miss Marple
I start with whatever pleases me Marple !
DeleteShaking dozens of hands every day; is not great for ones hands, so yes it is a good idea to wear gloves; The Princess Royal learnt that from her mother. Tara
DeleteI agree with all of you. The hairstyle, the gloves... If she could start changing that, it would be so much better. Marcy
DeleteAnne will always be Anne but I do think there is room for improvement. I think the short sleeves on the beige jacket in the second outfit look silly with the long black gloves. The gloves, bag and shoes would have looked better in a lighter color. Black is a heavy color for this time of year and does not go well with her summery outfits.
ReplyDeleteI don't,think Anne was ever interested in being a dolly bird. She is just not into fashion or having the latest. She seems to be happy the way she is. Good luck to her being happy is the main thing. Mary i
ReplyDeleteThe Princess Royal hits the mark every time, a very intelligent no nonsense person her fashion is timeless; bravo. There is more to royalty than designer dress shoots ;Tabby and I fell over laughing at some of the other European royals.Matilda
ReplyDeleteThe turquoise dress is actually quite lovely on her. Fresh, vibrant colour, neat style. The beige outfit is not terrible but not great either. It looks old-fashioned and washes her out. The gloves don´t go well with either outfit. Her hairstyle is a disaster, but it´s her trademark and I don´t think she´ll ever change it. Normally, I´d say it ages her, but she has now grown into an age where it "belongs". Unfortunately, she´s had the same hairstyle for the past 50 years or so, and she´s basically styled it like a 70 year old through most of her adult life.
ReplyDeleteI like the green dress on the lady in the last picture.
The gloves are ridiculous, and no you don’t ever shake hands while wearing gloves… rude!!
ReplyDeleteMM
The dress would have looked better if Anne wore different color/aka lighter shoes, with matching (lighter) gloves and bag. The black looks odd, is outdated. annie
