| British royal family released a new official photo to celebrate the beginning of the new decade. The photo shows the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and Prince George standing with the Queen at Buckingham Palace. The new photo was taken in the week before Christmas. It is the second official photo showing the four generations of royal family members together. The photo was taken by photographer Ranald Mackechnie in the Throne Room at Buckingham Palace in London. |
This is a wonderful photo with 4 generations. A special compliment to the photographer who catched them all in such a natural way. The photo expresses warmth and a union between generations.

DeleteWell, I might not put that many exclamation points on it, but I agree that they could have done much better by George here. Why they would put him in a fussy shirt that looks like it belongs at a three-year-old’s birthday party, I’ll never know. He was dressed quite smartly for the Christmas Day walk to church, and I wish something similar had been provided for this historic portrait.

George looked so grown up in his dark suit on their Christmas Day church walk, why didn't they put him in that suit for this photo. Time for them to move George into some serious young-boy fashion. ~Rose~
DeleteI have to agree. It looks more like a little girl's blouse than a boy's shirt. Since he's also wearing some "interesting" :) plaid (tartan) pants *maybe* the whole thing is some sort of homage to Scotland? (I'm trying to help you out, George. LOL). Could be an outfit of the Queen's father. Who knows.

ReplyDeleteSeparate from the fashion, does anyone else ever think to themselves that Her Maj has met with 14ish prime ministers over the course of her life, weekly!, and therefore what knowledge she must have in her head? I'm knocked out by it. She is amazing.
dellbab68, I agree with you. Queen Elizabeth is unmatched in history, in my opinion, and no one is likely to surpass her in terms of her long reign and the confidences shared with her by the long list of prime ministers.
DeleteFashion-wise, I think all of the men (including the little prince) look dashing, and, of course, the Queen looks lovely in her ice blue dress and her jewels. I hope the New Year is a good one for them and us commoners :)

DeleteMerci Tante Meghan qui a œuvré que george porte un pantalon sinon il n'aurait eu droit de le porter que à l'âge de 12 ans! Il aurait pû porter un blazer pour le côté institutionnel. 4 générations, une reine et 3 héritiers au trône. La monarchie sera mâle les prochaines décennies....La Reine pourrait abdiquer pour Charles qui a tout de même 73 ans! Il sera Roi au grand maximum durant 20 ans et encore...William sera Roi à 50 donc un roi jeune....La reine est detendue; le Duc d'Edimbourg Prince Philip se porte mieux. Andrew aux oubliettes..Ouf
ReplyDeleteLes parents de Charles se sont mariés le 20 novembre 1947, il est né le 14 novembre 1948. Charles n'a pas 73 ans, il vient juste de fêter ses 71 ans.

DeleteI don't agree but I know in the UK they have a different opinion. Little George wears a blouse that would suit a 3 year old. And lady Louise is a total disastre which I don't understand because the duchess of Wessex has a good taste concerning her own clothes. She could advise her daughter.

It is not a sailor suit any more like earlier :-)) . We all know that for the Royal Family, signalising timelessness, tradition, continuity and recogniseability one, two or more generations later is important.
DeleteAs for Lady Louise, she is 16 and I am sure she wears what she likes to wear. I don't suppose that her mother or anyone else forces her to wear clothing she does not like. I think words like "disastrous" are wholly inappropriate just because someone does not understand/like someone else's choices.

ReplyDeleteFour Generations of British Royals. The Prince of Wales will be the shortest serving Monarch, since he is already in his mid 70's. I think he would make a good King. I love the dress of the Queen.
ReplyDeleteThis photo is interesting in that the Queen is front and center, William who is tall, is close behind, then Charles is standing on a step, which makes him appear taller, when in reality he is not tall at all. Then there is little George. He's dressed with an outdated shirt and pants that are wrinkled. One would assume for a proper photo, the clothes would be neatly pressed. Given he is just a little boy, keeping his clothes wrinkle free is not on his agenda. I do find it odd and unsettling, that they have appeared to make Charles appear taller than his son, more imposing, rather than keeping them at their natural height.

ReplyDeleteA beautiful photo of the four generations of royal family members together. This would have to be one of the most beautiful photos I have ever seen of the Queen. So relaxed smiling into the camera, no pose just a radiant smile. She looks stunning in this particular dress, the colour is superb, offset by the natural colour of her hair. The sapphire, diamond and pearl drop brooch is sensational , a masterful piece of jewellery. The tone of her dress is the perfect backdrop for this brooch. Love the pearl necklace, gorgeous.

The photo is great.What does the future holdas we know Her Majesty is the glue that keeps them all together; once she is gone Charles will use all his;ideas and sensibility to maintain their unity.

Is it me, or does George looks a lot like Diana's brother?. Never noticed before.

ReplyDeleteI think it's a lovely photo. I believe a reason for the dress shirt is that George was wearing one very similar to this in the last photo of 4 generations taken to mark the Queen's 90th birthday--it was also a stamp. It might even be the same shirt as it was too big for him in the first photo and looks distinctly tight now (Tried to embed a link but failed--you can google it if you want to check) but I think the colla ris different apart from anything else.
ReplyDeleteAs to European Royal children I am certain I have read comments on this site about the Spanish princesses being dressed in styles that are too young and the Dutch Princesses being criticised for wearing clothes that are too old :) Perhaps no-one is perfect!
