On April 25, 2018, Prince Harry and his fiancee Meghan Markle attended the Dawn Service held at Hyde Park Corner to commemorate Anzac Day. Anzac Day commemorates Australian and New Zealand casualties and veterans of conflicts and marks the anniversary of the landings in the Dardanelles on April 25, 1915 that would signal the start of the Gallipoli Campaign during the First World War. |
This is a an appropriate outfit!
ReplyDeleteCan I say that I read on her face "what I'm doing here"?
what's an appropriate in this outfit?
DeleteI think she is touched by the serious moment. Very nice outfit.
DeleteI read "So much to learn and remember."
DeleteI think that there may be an information gap about part of Meghan's background. Please know that her Father's Mother, Doris, to whom she was very close, was from an English family. They brought their Anglican (Episcopal in the US) faith with them to America. That is why Meghan's Father, Thomas, is an Episcopalian. It is more than likely that Meghan attended these church services during her childhood (maybe not often but at times) and that they feel familiar to her. Meghan may be marveling at the return to these roots. I can almost guarantee that Grandmother Doris is smiling.
DeleteI read "yeah.... the job of the princess is not always fun" :)
DeleteThere must be terrible ups & downs in températures in London?! Jusdging from the sleeveless dress to back to a coat.
ReplyDeleteIt would also have a lot to do with the fact that ANZAC Day event start before dawn when temperatures are at their lowest.
DeleteAlso I just wanted to note that as ANZAC is an acronym for the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps it is spelt with respectfully spelt in capitals. I hate being one of these people who correct but as an Australian this is really important to both Australian's and New Zealanders.
DeleteFrom highs of 29C last week, some city areas will be 4C to 13C today and snow and sleet possible in parts of the UK.
DeleteVery chilly in the early morning hours when this open air service was held. Totally appropriate in terms of event, location and hour of the day! Great outfit on her.
DeleteI'm glad that Anzac Day is remembered - at least officially - in Britain.
ReplyDelete"the landings in the Dardanelles on April 25, 1915", of course she could not care less! The hat suits her very well and yess there are terrible ups and downs in western Europe at the moment, one day it's summer, the next day it's fall.
ReplyDeleteThis is spot on. Sombre colors, and a 'Maxima' hat to boot ! Love the 'poppy' coat being worn by the woman in the last photo.
ReplyDeleteLovely....
ReplyDeleteMeghan's entire outfit is lovely. I especially like the dove grey color of the coat--somber and respectful but an alternative to black. The 9th photo of Harry and Meghan exchanging a loving look with each other is touching.
ReplyDeletePerfect
Deletelovely outfit
ReplyDeleteA bride at a somber occasion weeks before her wedding. I think she is trying to be somber and not be selfishly excited. Having re-sewn my share of buttons on coats, something is off w/the buttoning on that coat. That said, the color and styling are good and I hope we see it a few more times this year.
ReplyDeleteVery nice outfit. Wearing a hat is a good idea for Meghan because it keeps the hair out of hair face. This is the first time I like the shoes she is wearing. And it seems to me these are the first pair of shoes that actually fit and she can walk in. She should stay away from these tower high stiletto heels, becuase they are not good for her body frame and go for this type of heel, medium high block heel. They are more modern anyway.
ReplyDeleteI just would like to say that people are being incredibly hard on this young woman. If her outfit is good then you're trying to read her facial expressions. It took Kate years to get to the level of polish and poise. Harry and his children to bethough royalty are now even further from the throne. Let's give her a break
ReplyDelete..
What nonsense are you talking about? Prince William is the first-born, therefore he and HIS children are the ones in direct line to the British Throne. Harry has been fully aware of this fact all of his life. This is nothing for him to be sad or unsatisfied about. It is just the way it has always been. I assume that MM knows that she is not engaged to the heir.
DeleteAgree Anon 4.32
DeleteLook out I said give her a break on another post and got a scolding.
She cannot win. I am just going to ignore the comments UNLESS they are particularily vile. Some just want to find any small thing to make a dig about her. Like I said before this is way more than her hair or clothes.
And before anyone brings up how we talk about Stephanie. We talk about her lack of style. Nothing personal. With Meghan it is about her hair her face her clothes her behavior....that is the difference.
@Anon 5:38 fully agree with you, if it is allowed.
DeleteThen you must see the Daily Mail, people are insulting her, they're so nasty towards her
DeleteAm glad she is taking advise
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit, like the style of the coat and the shoes look more comfortable than high heels. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteI’m the only one who’s not enchanted by her outfit?
ReplyDeleteYes it’s better and it’s ok for the occasion but the coat is to big on her and the hair looks awful underneath the hat.
She had such an amazing sense of style before the engagement that I’m disappointed.
I feel your pain Daniela. I too was looking forward to her previous style. It was full of color, prints, daring minis😁, her hair was always perfect. Perhaps at some point she will come back to it.
DeleteThis is one of her better outfits, but the coat doesn't seem to sit right. I don't know if it is too big, but it is hanging down in the back and kind of hiked up in the front. When she sits it looks fine. I do like the shoes. Not crazy about her 70's style hat.
ReplyDeleteSimple and elegant.
ReplyDeleteSie sieht wieder sehr gut aus. Ich liebe ihren eleganten Stil, egal was sie anzieht und egal welche Farbe sie trägt, sie hat sehr guten Geschmack.

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful, elegant Lady !
ReplyDeleteP.S.
ReplyDeleteSecond Photo with the hat she looks just charming.
I think her entire outfit is stunning. I love the solid colors, cut of the coat and that adorable hat. There is something so "Jackie O" about her outfit and her whole demeanor. Happy for her and her Prince!
ReplyDeleteI like it very much - the coat and a "proper" hat are lovely, the grey is flattering and "appropriate".
ReplyDeleteI love the floppy hat - such a break from traditional hattage! Also I'm loving that Meghan has given up the ankle strap shoes these past few appearances. With her narrow ankles, they look very odd on her.
ReplyDeletePerfect
ReplyDeleteNice outfit. Love the hat, like the coat (not fond of the futuristic shoulders, but other than that, it´s nice). Problem here is the hair. She really needed an updo. With a hat like that and open hair, you either look like a cowgirl or a witch.
ReplyDeleteGreat lock on Meghan, wow what a change, she looks good in small or wide rimmed hats, look at picture #5 she have very pretty eyes.
ReplyDeleteAgree with all comments above that like the outfit. Entirely appropriate for the occasion and I also agree with the comment that a bigger hat helps keep the straggly hair tidy. I also love her expression in many of the photos--I would say reflective and respectful, rather than the earlier comment that she looks like she wonders what she's doing here. And I can't imagine she didn't read up on the ANZACs and the Galipoli landings and understand why the service was taking place. Long may their heroism be commemorated.
ReplyDeleteyeah..there's no stopping her now...way to go girl!
ReplyDeletethis is so amal clooney and i see she's kicking the pedal and really no stopping her now
MM looks super in that coat and the wide brim hat, today a bit of a lower and no pencil heel, looks very good in MO.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely and appropriate ; grey is very pretty and I love that hat on her! She is opting for longer coats; maybe this one is slightly too long but I much prefer this to the too short dresses/coats that others sometimes wear. I also agree about preferring these shoes - these ridiculously high heels that some royals wear are doing their feet no favors 🙄
ReplyDeleteI don't like this coat because ist seems to me that it is a bit too big for her around her arms and upper body.
ReplyDeleteShe always looks so uncomfortable. The coat doesn't seem to be the right fit for her. The hat is acceptable.
