Does someone know the exact relationship between the Queen and Felipe?
ReplyDeleteBoth are descendants of Queen Victoria. Queen Elizabeth from Edward VIi and King Felipe from Beatrice, the youngest daughter of Queen Victoria.
DeleteQueen Elizabeth's great-grandfather and King Felipe's great, great-grandmother were siblings. Both family lines are the following:
DeleteQueen Victoria/ eldest son King Edward VII / King George V / King George VI / Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Victoria/ youngest daughter princess Beatrice / Victoria Eugenia (Ena) of Battenberg, wife to Alfonso XIII and Queen consort of Spain / Infante Don Juan, conde de Barcelona / King Juan Carlos / King Felipe.
Both of Felipe's parents, JC and Sofia are descendants of Queen Victoria and therefore related to not just Queen E II but other ruling and defunct European royalties

DeleteLizzie yes except between Prince Philip and King Felipe who are cousins I believe once or twice removed (Prince Philip and Queen Sofia are cousins)

ReplyDeleteYes! I hope for something new for the welcome ceremony, but if she is going to wear a hat, she might repeat the Lux wedding outfit or add a hat to the coat and dress she wore at Felipe's inthronisation.

DeleteHer outfit fits her perfectly and I love the pattern of the shoes and purse with her top and skirt. But the whole thing could use a little color. It's kind of bland. If Queen Maxima were given this top and skirt to wear, I wonder what accessories she would pair with it?
