ReplyDeleteIt makes her shoulders look so much wider than her waist or hips. Almost masculin V form. I prefer original version of the dress. Even V decolte would look so so much better on her. Now disproportion is enormous.
ReplyDeleteI love the duchess.... but the dress just doesnt work for me. I love the earrings and her make up is excellent. Its just the dress! I love that she stayed with a British designer.
ReplyDeleteBetter to have broadened the original straps or worn strapless, IMO. Seems to copy Princess Diana, who had more curves and shapely arms for this style of sleeve. Yet this is a fine choice, mature, no lace, and stunning earrings!
ReplyDeleteThat doesn´t look right. Her shoulders look huge in proportion to the rest of her torso. The thin straps are weird, both in size and placement. It almost looks as if someone had cut off the top 5 cm of her bodice.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it´s not wise to have hair broader than your waist.
And, as always, if you want to look glamourous, you need to have the right posture. Glamour is not only about the clothes, it´s at least as much about poise, attitude (in lack of a better word) and charisma, all of which unfortunately tell the viewer here that Kate doesn´t "own" the look.
I´ll give her, however, that her alterations to the dress are an improvement. The original version looks like the under-structure for a better dress, like something you´d wear under a ball gown. Terrible.

Delete@ Vanessa S, you explained so well what disturbed me about the proportions but I couldn't find the right words. Especially what you said about the hair that is broader than the waist. Her hair is getting too much, too long, too heavy, even with an updo, it also kills her face.
DeleteBut her waist is teensy so how much less hair would do? Not her best but I think she looks very confident.
DeleteThe original dress would have looked better. This version makes her shoulders look enormous. And this is just too much hair, it looks heavy and starts to remind me of Amy Winehouse's beehives.

I'm still getting used to her botox but I like the look! She truly looks different to me now. And her earrings are pretty. Another fabulous outing.

ReplyDeleteI very seldom like floral pattern evening gowns but Catherine looks just stunning and very happy. I love her earrings. Kunzites and diamonds maybe? Would love to read more about them. I an so happy she wears here such a big, beautiful (and real) jewels.

I am not a big print person but I think if you changed the straps to look like CPM'S Victoria's but done in solid black it changes the top from hmmm to something a lot more flattering. I'm not ever going to love tiered skirts but the black top would draw it all together.

Silly me, but how can you tell if someone has had Botox? Anyone have history on her earrings? Or is it new make?
ReplyDeleteThe earrings are not new, their designer or provenance is unknown, she was first seen in them at the Hedge Funds dinner in 2011.
